Payson, AZ (August 31, 2020) Brenda Barton, candidate for State House in Legislative District 6 is pleased to have the support of Arizona’s Senate President, Karen Fann (LD-01) and Speaker of the House, Rusty Bowers (LD-25). 

The Senate President and House Speaker issued the following statement of support last week. 

“With the primary election now behind us, it’s time to turn our full attention to the General Election. Senate President Karen Fann and House Speaker Rusty Bowers are giving their full support and endorsement to Brenda Barton in the District 6 State House race. Brenda is a strong voice for rural Arizona, with a proven track record in her eight years serving in the House of Representatives.

“Brenda’s roots run deep in our state. She is a fifth-generation native of rural Arizona. Brenda is anxious to return to the Legislature and serve the people of District 6. She knows there is work to be done to expand the rural economy and improve rural health care and education.

“Brenda is familiar with the challenges rural Arizonans face. She fought hard to end Federal control of public lands, returning sovereignty back to the people of Arizona. She also cares deeply about education, including her push to improve the state’s technical and vocational training programs.

“Now more than ever, it is vital Republicans keep the majority in the Senate and the House. If Democrats were to control either chamber, their ideas of rejecting public safety and defunding police, supporting a Green New Deal that would send energy bills soaring and eliminating school choice could take hold. We can’t let that happen.

“We hope you’ll join us in supporting Brenda Barton in her return to the Arizona Legislature.”

Barton, who served with both Fann and Bowers during her prior terms of service in the Arizona House said she looks forward to “returning and working with them to bring Arizona’s economy back and ensure northern and rural Arizona aren’t left behind.” 

When Maricopa County and Phoenix stakeholders forget about or don’t understand rural needs, LD6 needs a dedicated representative to make sure that rural and northern Arizona interests are heard and are taken seriously.
As a longtime resident of our district and former State Representative, I have always stood up for rural and northern Arizonans and I will continue to do so. In the past, I chaired the House Committee for Agriculture and Water and served on the North American Council of State Agriculture and Rural Leaders. I understand the importance of water rights and proper resource management, reducing burdensome regulation, and supporting our farmers and growers.
When Democratic and Phoenix elites propose legislation that is bad for rural and northern Arizona, I will always be ready to say, “Hold it right there!” My opponents are out of touch with our district’s priorities and have demonstrated irresponsible and inexperienced leadership.
